Search Engine Friendly Web Design

Effective search engine optimization requires search engine friendly web pages. In order to have search engine friendly web pages you must utilize search engine friendly web design. Search engine friendly web design calls for the good use of keywords, the good use of backlinks, and simple site navigation. There are five rules to follow when it comes to web design:

1. Your site should be easy to read
2. Your site should be easy to navigate
3. Your page should be easy to find
4. Your site should have consistent layout and design
5. Your page should be quick to download

As a freelance web designer I specialize in getting YOU the results YOU want. I use advanced web design to uniquely target whatever it is you have to offer. The combination of inexpensive web site design and search engine friendly web design make for an effective and ideal end product.

Why should I hire a freelance web designer?

Freelance web design is inexpensive, making it much more affordable for individuals, small businesses and mid-size businesses. There are a number of freelance designers out there so you need to make sure to pick the right one. Picking the right one requires time and research. Make sure you are careful when looking for a freelance web designer. There have been cases of companies in India posing as freelance web designers on websites like Craigslist, in hopes of targeting a naïve individual. Make sure to meet with your freelance web designer and tell them exactly what it is you want so that they can be sure to provide you with a successful end product that is worth your money and your time.

Social Media Secrets Exposed

They aren’t really super secret, just mostly common sense but here are a few “secrets” about social media marketing. One of the best secrets is to be talked about and have a buzz going around about you. On your blog or website, its important to have a distinctive voice that people become interested in. The second secret is to let loose (not too crazy) but to have a good time, laugh and be fun. Social media networking is meant to be fun, no one wants to go researching or networking on boring websites or with boring people. If you are not personally fun or funny, you can always send out information or videos from other people or websites.

The third thing that you want to do during your social networking time is to help other people out. There are a lot of people out there that need just as much support as you and offering them your services is one of the things that will help your marketing. Instead of being cynical, try to help and support people and in return you will get the same. Another good tip is to be controversial when you are writing, blogging or networking about something you really believe in. People like to watch someone that is going slightly against the grain and you will get a following and sometimes controversy is the type of thing that people will continue to follow on pages like Twitter or Facebook.

There is a plethora of knowledge on the internet and a lot of information that can really help other people. You can find this information on other sites that you have visited on the internet. Another social media secret is don’t be too forceful. Social media is the place to make connections and network. Following these simple rules will help you network, make friends and eventually increase your business and followers. Good luck! If you have any questions let me know and I’ll be glad to help you out.

The Buzz about Buzz Marketing

Buzz marketing is a form of viral marketing that aims to single out interested parties with a more spontaneous and less formal marketing message.  While buzz marketing has been around for a long time, the advent of recent technology has changed the face of buzz marketing entirely.  Online buzz marketing is all about creating a buzz with a business message or concept to get people interested in your concept or services.  While the initial ideal behind marketing is to create sincere interest about a service or product, some online buzz marketing can be seen as spam and can also have the negative effect of not targeting the right group or audience.

The great thing about buzz marketing is that it can reach a large group of people in a short amount of time and the people that actually have interest can contact you or learn more as they click through or respond to buzz marketing materials.  Web 2.0 gives some excellent ways to make a buzz and get behind a marketing message for your products and services.

The big thing that people need to realize is that they are the creators of the buzz and whatever comes from there is successful buzz marketing.  You, the marketer, create the first buzz and push you message into the public realm and your message can be talked about and users or viewers can generate content and spread the buzz rapidly both on the web and in the real world.  It is very important that you create good quality content on a consistent basis and if your marketing message include promises or concrete goals on your end that you are willing and able to deliver what you preach.  This has a lot to do with word of mouth.  Good word of mouth is great when it gets going but bad word of mouth is like wildfire and will take you down faster than you came up.

Don’t just send out garbage or unplanned messages into cyberspace and hope for the best but rather be meticulous about the messages that you are sending out and the goals that you are trying to achieve.  This is one of the most important aspects of buzz marketing.  Buzz marketing is a simple tool to use and its everyday marketing that is conversation based that gets people involved so that your marketing message can be spread.

Social Bookmarking on Your Side

Old-fashioned bookmarking can be defined as using a marker (even a piece of paper) to bookmark your place in a book that you are reading.  With the advancements in technology the term bookmarking has carried over into the realm of the world wide web and is used to help individual be able to go back to a website that they found useful or interesting.  Until recently, the best way to go back to a website that you discovered was to bookmark it and categorize it or save it to your “favorites” in your web browser.  The biggest problem with this type of bookmarking is that it is private and only available on your personal or desktop computer.

There are billions of web pages on the net, over 15 billion to get a little bit more precise, and probably several million or even billions with useful information.  It would be impossible to bookmark or add all of these sites to your favorites.  What has come out of the need for knowing more and needing a place to store it and a way to find it again is social bookmarking.  One of the most trafficked sites del.icio.us is a social bookmarking site that lets users tag any website that they desire and further they are able to share these websites with friends, family and colleagues.

There are different sites that allow for social bookmarking but one of the most popular and easy to use sites is del.icio.us.  To get started with del.icio.us you just register online at del.icio.us, save the del.icio.us button and “tags” button in your button bar and “voila” you are ready to be on your way to social bookmarking.  Once you tag a site you will be prompted to add more tag words so that you and anyone who is in your social network will be able to access and use your bookmarks.  There is so much information out there on the Internet and it has become very important to filter out the good from the bad and save time by using these social bookmarking tips.

The social media marketing explosion has made social bookmarking all the more necessary.  Your bookmarks not only help you and other people but they also play a major factor in organic optimization and online buzz marketing.

Getting Hip with Social Media Advertising

As an individual that both participates in forms of social networking and media advertising online as well as someone who creates social media campaigns for my clients, I have found that this pervasive and powerful medium to enhance my clients’ chances of being found on the Internet and increases their ability to market to a wide variety of groups and individuals both locally and globally.

Some people may boast themselves as “old-fashioned” or believe that it is just as well if they have their services only listed in the online yellow pages, but in this day and age more is necessary to survive and excel in business online and in the real world.  Turning to an individual or an internet marketing firm in order to reach this goal is what has emerged as the newest trend.  Online buzz marketing and social media advertising has swept the internet marketing industry and its results are impressive and indefeatable.

There are many different kinds of social media and I have found that many business owners have better things to do that to register, log in, learn about, and maintain these social media sources and instead would rather turn it over to knowledgeable internet marketing gurus to simplify the process.  Social networks are extremely popular with everyone from the tween to the corporate CEO and retiree.  Sites such as MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter link millions of people through common interests, networks (local), job industry and school backgrounds with no end in site.

Social news sites spread news like wildfire similarly through word-of-mouth on the web, showing individuals what’s hot based on popularity of each article or topic.  Sites such as Sphinn and Digg are two such sites trafficked by millions on a daily basis.  Other very important types of social media advertising include social bookmarking and social sharing which will be talked about in future posts!  Keep following and learn what type of internet marketing will best fit your needs.

6 Steps to Website Video Marketing

I’ve recently been asked by a lot of our clients if I can do website video marketing. The answer to that question is YES! I have partnered with some talented videographers and editors and will handle the video once it has been edited. I’d like to explain the process since most people are still uncertain what it means to do website video marketing.

Step 1. Decide on content for your video. Who’s your audience? What message are you trying to convey? Where will the video be posted?

Step 2. Work with a professional team to create your video. There are a ton of cheap camcorders out there but if you think you’ll be able to shoot and edit your video to where it looks professional you are mistaken. Both the video shoot and editing are art forms and should be left to professionals.

Step 3. The video shoot can take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours. I recently worked on a shoot in Southern California which I’ll post next week. The video shoot took around 3 hours and we ended up with about an hour and half of footage.

Step 4. Once the video is shot it has to be edited. I think there is a big misuderstanding here since my clients tend to want the video the next day after the video is shot. The editing process can sometimes take longer than the actual shoot. In the editing process additional elements can be added to the video to make it more enticing to watch such as music, still photos and graphics. This step is also important because we any noises or mistakes that were made during the shoot. In the above example I mentionded we edited the hour and half footage down to around 2 minutes. Anything longer than 2 minutes in my mind is too long for website video marketing.

Step 5. So now you have the video and it has to be compressed and optimized for the internet. Once the video is ready you can use this video for your website and a host of other video sites. Here’s a short list of sites that I use: Revver, YouTube, Viddler, MetaCafe, and Vimeo.

Step 6. Once the videos are out on these sites you should start driving traffic to these sites. Video marketing can be challenging in this regard since there are so many videos out there. If the video is funny or sexy than it will probably pick up some traction and start spreading. This can also be referred to as viral marketing.  Here’s a short list of ways to promote your video: blog about the video, bookmark the video on social bookmarking sites, email your friends and family, digg the video, post comments on other videos and hopefully you’ll get someone checking out your video when this happens.

Best of luck in your video. I hope this information was helpful. Stay tuned for some video examples.

Tasteful Or Tacky ?

I came across Top Five Home Page Mistakes, written by Ben Hunt and I thought they were so useful that I decided to include them below.

1. Not Saying What you Do
2. The Dead Pit
3. Where are the Benefits?
4. Incredible Graphics
5. Bad Production

While you can check out the other four suggestions, I am going to speak to suggestion number 4. By incredible graphics, Hunt means a site that is overkill in the imagery. You know how you pass a car dealership with what appears to be thousands of inflatable flailing arm balloons to get you attention… yeah it’s annoying and it’s tacky. Even though you think these images are perfect and speak to what your all about, we don’t want to hear it all at once. People expect the home page to be succinct and informative, it ought to have a clean polished looked giving a feel of professionalism. If you have incredible graphics that you labored over, do not be discouraged there is a place for them. People love images so allocate a separate page titled something like “graphic portfolio” and give people the choice to review them. This is a much less intrusive way to sport your pictures and I can assure you they will be received much better in this fashion.
